Exaget Week in Review: The World of RTA, Mobile Shopping & Streaming

Week in Review

Exaget’s Week in Review is back, and we’ve moved our time slots to Thursdays. This week we’ll be bringing you informative and interesting articles trending across the internet and keeping you up to date with the latest across a range of industries, including radio, advertising, and mobile.

Here’s a look at what we here at Exaget have found interesting this week:

BLOG POST: Skip Ad
We’ve all known that feeling, that mixture of infuriation and despair. In a digital world, nothing is quite as frustrating as an ad that bears no relevance or point to you – as we’ve already discussed in our recent blog, Skip Ad. The CEO of AdLudio shared our thoughts and feelings in an interesting article – with the added bonus of some credible stats from the Mobile Marketing Association.

The Real World of Real Time Advertising
Do you know your SSP from your DMP and your RTB? Here at Exaget we have found the perfect article to de-mystify the world of RTA for you, including a breakdown of what it is, how it works, and just what those acronyms stand for. WHYETA. (We Hope You Enjoy This Article).

Grooveshark Working On A Streaming Radio App To Rival Pandora
The streaming music service market is a tough one to be in. With Pandora’s all-conquering rise in the US and Spotify reigning supreme in the UK and Europe, Grooveshark are finding new ways to up their game with their latest radio app ‘Broadcasts’ due for release in January 2015 – and are hoping to re-establish themselves as a legitimate brand, following a long list of copyright lawsuits.  At the same time, in their bid to still keep themselves ahead, Pandora have been jazzing up their user interface, with new functions that give the user more control over what music is being funnelled their way. You can find out more here.

Mobile Search To ‘Surpass Desktop’ Next Year
With the run up to Christmas, TV advertising and in-store displays have been trying to outdo each other in a bid to attract as many consumers as they can, and spending big bucks in doing so. But research from xAd and Telmetrics has shown that 80% of consumers will hunt down items and bargains on their mobile phones, with a third of all users relying exclusively on their mobile devices through the buying process. So whilst Monty the Penguin may be melting viewer’s hearts from the TV screen during supper, it is vital for brands to tap into the possibilities of mobile devices if they want to see bigger profits during this most festive of seasons.

Hit Podcast Serial Comes To Radio 4 Extra
UK audiences can now tune in on Radio 4 Extra to listen to Serial, the fastest ever podcast to hit five million downloads on iTunes. Now it’s been downloaded more than twenty million times globally; and now the prestigious heavyweight in the world of broadcasting – the BBC – who are synonymous with producing some of the best shows on TV and radio, are spending their money on a programme that started off as the humble podcast. Tapping into the power of social media and forums, the series also enables listeners to get involved, each becoming a sleuthing Miss Marple.
